SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO, Calif., Jan. 11, 2017 -- The Swanepoel Power 200 (SP200), the definitive ranking of residential real estate's 200 most powerful leaders from the Swanepoel T3 Group, reveals that women leaders are increasing their foothold in the industry.
Women show up in 45 of the 200 slots on the 2017 SP200 list. While that percentage, 22.5 percent, is too low for an industry dominated by female agents, it reflects three years of growth on the SP200 list, up from 19.0 percent in 2015 and 22.0 percent in 2016.
This is also the first year a woman leader is among real estate’s 10 most powerful leaders with Zillow Group Chief Operating Officer Amy Bohutinsky claiming the No. 10 spot. The placement recognizes her role as a key architect of her firm’s impressive 2016, which saw the acquisition of MLS tech provider Bridge Interactive Group in August, the release of a new brokerage-focused ad product in October and a $6.8 million profit on $224.6 million in revenue in the third quarter.
Bohutinsky is real estate’s most powerful female leader but she is not the only woman whose industry stature has grown in the past year. Helen Hanna Casey, CEO of the large and growing Pittsburgh-based real estate firm Howard Hanna Real Estate Services, jumps two slots from a year ago to No. 13 on the SP2017 Women Leaders list. Douglas Elliman Real Estate President and CEO Dottie Herman climbs one slot to No. 17 and Windermere co-president Jill Jacobi Wood moves up to No. 21.
Rounding out the top 10 most powerful women in real estate are:
- Pam O’Connor, president and CEO of Leading Real Estate Companies of the World, at No. 26.
- Sherry Chris, president and CEO of Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate, at No. 27.
- Pamela Liebman, president and CEO of The Corcoran Group, at No. 45.
- Sue Yannaccone, president and CEO of ERA Franchise Systems, at No. 46.
- Mary Frances Burleson, president and CEO of Ebby Halliday Real Estate, at No. 52
- Kate Rossi, executive vice president of the Southeast region of brokerage giant NRT LLC, at No. 53.
“It’s an honor to be named among this list of amazing and accomplished women and men,” Bohutinsky said.
The SP200 is published annually by the Swanepoel T3 Group. See the full SP200 at www.SP200.com.
