CARLSBAD, Calif., Feb. 08, 2018 -- North Coast Aquatics (NCA), one of the top swimming clubs in San Diego, is hosting the 2018 Speedo Sectionals Championships for the second consecutive year. NCA is seeking local businesses to sponsor this 4-day swim meet that will take place March 1 – 4, at the Alga Norte Aquatics Center. As a USA Swimming Championship Series event, it will attract up to 1,000 of California and Nevada’s top swimmers, eager to swim in the City of Carlsbad’s state-of-the-art 22-lane competition pool.
“We’re honored to host this prestigious event with the City of Carlsbad for the 2nd year in a row,” said team owner and Head Coach, Jeff Pease. “There’s never been a swimming event of this magnitude in San Diego county. We’re excited to showcase our spectacular aquatics center to the fastest high school swimmers in California and Nevada.” That’s underscored by NCA’s 40-year history in San Diego and Coach Pease’s experience watching the county’s swimming culture grow and flourish.
Financial sponsorships will help the swim club’s 501-(C)(3) charity that provides funding to support children with fees for monthly training and for traveling to big meets, who otherwise could not participate. Coach Pease emphasized, “since proceeds directly benefit NCA families in our community, struggling to afford their swim fees, we really encourage local businesses to partake.” Sponsorships are set at $100, $250 and $500 so local businesses of any size can show their support for the community. NCA also seeks food/drink donations to support the hospitality of all coaches, officials and volunteers, Thursday through Sunday.
This thrilling weekend of racing will surely bring surges of people to nearby shops, restaurants, malls and hotels. Longtime Carlsbad resident, Coach Pease explained the excitement “not only to promote our sponsors but also to provide the best possible experience for the athletes and their families who travel here." During mid-day intermissions everyone gets lunch and non-athletes seek out things to do. As finals closedown each night, myriads of swimmers clamor for dinner to refill their tanks for the next day.
The competition is sponsored by Speedo, USA Swimming and San Diego Imperial Swimming. Learn more about the competition and North Coast Aquatics on the swim team’s Sectionals page. Follow NCA’s swimmers’ preparations on Facebook and Instagram.
