The “Nintendo NX” exists. That’s about all anyone really knows about the next-gen console by the Japanese video game company. However, according to “Ubisoft,” the “NX” is capable of bringing casual players – who are mostly engaged with mobile titles – back to using consoles. This is an encouraging thought, particularly as it pertains to a console that hardly anyone knows anything about.
As Tech Crunch points out, Nintendo has been teasing fans about the “NX” for a long time. Right now, the only solid information anyone has about it is Nintendo shooting for a March 2017 release.
However, speculations are rife with regards to the capabilities of the “NX,” including a seamless transition from console gaming involving a TV to mobile gaming involving a hand-held device. There have also been rumors regarding VR-compatibility, which is only to be expected since virtual gaming is a pretty big deal in the market right now.
With Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot saying that the “NX” is capable of bringing back casual gamers, he just fueled the flames of speculation regarding what the Nintendo console can actually offer. Guillemot said that the console was great during the company’s financial conference call, which indicates that the CEO of one of the biggest video game development brands is not just pandering.
Guillemot has been in the business for a long time and has seen his fair share of industry secrets, Game Rant notes. The man is also known for his brutal honesty when it came to the trajectory of the gaming industry, particularly when it came to companies who had a significant impact on how the market moved. As such, for him to praise the NX so much, it can be assumed that the console really does have some revolutionary features that make its delay and the hype surrounding it justifiable.
