FULLERTON, Calif., March 03, 2017 -- To support a new Fullerton School District sensory room at Sunset Lane Elementary School, Fullerton Cares, along with corporate and community supporters, will present upwards of $20,000 to the Fullerton School District at the school board meeting with the full amount unveiled at the meeting, on Tuesday, March 7, 2017 beginning at 6 p.m. at the District Administration Board Room, 1401 W. Valencia Drive in Fullerton.
Fullerton Cares will make donations raised through grassroots fundraising efforts and corporate community support.
Fullerton Cares Founder Larry Houser, a dad to a child with autism himself, says of the upcoming presentation, “Fullerton Cares is deeply appreciative of the outpouring of community support to spread autism awareness and raise funds for local autism initiatives. This donation to the Fullerton School District is truly a community effort illustrating the passion in our community for including all people of all abilities.”
Madelynn Dabbs, 12, daughter of Fullerton Cares Director Summer Dabbs, says, “My brother has taught me to love and understand all people who experience the world differently. I’m glad so many people support kids like my brother.”
As part of the presentation, members of Fullerton Cares including parents affected by autism and educators teaching students with autism will be in attendance. A video will be played including interviews with elected representatives, school board members, and members of the community attending previous years' Mardi Gras for autism events.
