The end-of-January short interest represents 3.52 days average daily Nasdaq Global Market share volume for the reporting period, compared with 5.32 days for the prior reporting period.
Short interest in 738 securities on The Nasdaq Capital MarketSM totaled 766,280,781 shares at the end of the settlement date of January 29, 2016 compared with 777,219,830 shares in 740 securities for the previous reporting period. This represents 4.00 days average daily volume, compared with the previous reporting period’s figure of 4.19.
In summary, short interest in all 3,035 Nasdaq® securities totaled 8,970,791,699 shares at the January 29, 2016 settlement date, compared with 3,048 issues and 8,972,167,020 shares at the end of the previous reporting period. This is 3.56 days average daily volume, compared with an average of 5.19 days for the previous reporting period.
