ALISO VIEJO, Calif., March 09, 2017 -- NVISION Eye Centers – a national leader in ophthalmic treatments and services, is pleased to announce the introduction of Avedro Photrexa® Viscous, Photrexa® and the KXL System used in corneal collagen cross-linking for the treatment of keratoconus. The procedure has the ability to both stabilize and strengthen the cornea, halting or slowing the progression of keratoconus in the early phases of the condition. It can also improve vision in some patients with a more progressed stage of the condition.
“Keratoconus is a progressive thinning and distortion of the cornea that can result in significant visual loss and may lead to the need for a corneal transplant.” states Dr. Tom Tooma, founder of NVISION Eye Centers. “NVISION surgeons are treating patients who are suffering from progressive keratoconus. We are excited to offer a long term solution to our patients with this condition.”
The announcement follows the recent approval that Avedro, Inc., an ophthalmic pharmaceutical and medical device company, has received from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
