Michael Schumacher has not fully recovered yet from his devastating accident that occurred in December 2013. His former boss recently visited the F1 champ, and he shared updates about his condition to the public.

While the Schumacher family remained tight-lipped about how Schumi is doing today, Jean Todt, the racer’s boss when he was still under the Ferrari team, opened up and revealed that his friend is still fighting to live. He added that he is wishes for the F1 champ to come up on stage and greet his fans once again.

Schumi’s condition as stated by Todt

As per UK’s The Daily Mail, Todt was also in Budapest, where Lewis Hamilton competed and claimed his eighth win at the Hungarian Grand Prix 2020 the past weekend. While at the event, Todt was asked about Michael Schumacher and said that he just visited his friend last week.

Since Michael Schumacher’s family wants privacy and he respected this, he spoke with caution when giving his answers about the F1 champ’s current condition. Todt gave renewed hope when he said that Schumi is still fighting.

“I saw Michael last week,” Todt said. “He is fighting. I hope the world will be able to see him again. That is what he and his family are working towards.”

New stem cell treatment rumor

In any case, it was rumored that Michael Schumacher is set to undergo his second stem cell surgery. This is a follow-up to his September 2019 procedure, and it was reported that French cardiologist, Dr. Philippe Menasche, will still be Schumi’s attending physician.

However, as per The Guardian, this is a premature report because the operation is unlikely to happen. The publication explained that in this time of the COVID-19 pandemic, it is impossible for Michael Schumacher, who is very vulnerable to the disease to undergo such procedure since he may be exposed to the virus.

Michael Schumacher sustained severe head injuries when he bumped his head while skiing in the French Alps more than six years ago and he is still battling to fully recover. Jean Todt is now the president of Formula One’s governing body called the FIA.
