Mercedes-Benz Korea has requested a Seoul court to cancel a 77.6 billion-won fine imposed by the environment ministry for manipulating diesel emissions in the country.
The fine was the biggest of its kind imposed by the ministry.
Details on the upcoming hearings with the Seoul Administrative Court have yet to be disclosed. The German carmaker filed the lawsuit in October.
Mercedes-Benz Korea said it has fully cooperated with the ministry and intends to continue doing so.
The ministry fined Mercedes Benz Korea in May for installing test-cheating software in 12 of its diesel models, including the GLC220d 4MATIC SUV and the C200d sedan.
The illegal software was designed to falsify results during vehicle emissions testing. It also turns off the emissions reduction system during driving.
Mercedes Benz Korea sold 37,154 units of such models between 2012 and 2018.
