Meghan Markle A 'Hollywood Wannabe' Rather Than A 'Genuine Royal', Royal Commentator Claims

Meghan Markle reportedly lost her celebrity status since stepping down as a senior royal in 2020.

Meghan Markle now appears to be a Hollywood "wannabe" rather than a genuine royal, since her "success is no longer in her own hands,” royal commentator Richard Eden stated. The Duchess of Sussex and Prince Harry stepped down as working members of the Royal Family in 2020, but without her connection to the Firm, Meghan is said to have lost her best claim to genuine royal celebrity.

Meghan Markle Lost Celebrity Status After Leaving The Royal Family?

The Daily Mail's Richard Eden wrote on Meghan's solo appearance at Variety's Power of Women gala in Los Angeles, where she gave interviews and posed on the red carpet like any other celebrity, in his Palace Confidential newsletter.

In contrast, Princess Kate attended a State Banquet at Buckingham Palace this week to welcome South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol and First Lady Kim Keon Hee, an occasion that Mr Eden pointed out Meghan would have attended as well as a royal.

"[Meghan] couldn’t have looked less regal… just another celebrity waiting to be interviewed by a reporter for Variety magazine. She posed for photographers like the wannabe starlet she once was, before being rushed along impatiently by another guest,” Richard commented, per Express UK.

"Her interview emphasized that success is no longer in her own hands. She talked about the unnamed “exciting” new projects that her television company, Archewell Productions, 'can’t wait to announce'. But if and when she does announce them will depend entirely on their paymasters at Netflix,” he went on.

The royal expert admitted that if Meghan Markle were a royal, people would line up to meet her rather than the other way around, although Meghan and Prince Harry have had some independent success. They obtained multi-million dollar entertainment partnerships with Spotify and Netflix, yet their contract with Spotify was terminated after only one season of Meghan's podcast Archetypes.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have had better luck with Netflix, where they produced the documentary series “Harry & Meghan,” which was a big commercial hit, followed by the series Heart of Invictus, which was released earlier this year. There has been much conjecture about the projects Meghan and Prince Harry have in the works, including the acquisition of the rights to create Carley Fortune's novel “Meet Me at the Lake” for the streaming platform.

The continuing collaboration of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry with Netflix may have irritated the royals, especially since the newest season of “The Crown” has recently aired. The image of Princess Diana's ghost appearing to her ex-husband, then-Prince Charles, and Queen Elizabeth immediately after her terrible death has sparked controversy.

Meghan Markle In ‘Panic Mode’ Over ‘Dwindling’ Connection With Royal Family

Meanwhile, Meghan Markle is reportedly currently in "panic mode," according to a royal source, as the 42-year-old fights to retain her royal ties. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex relocated to California after deciding to retire as working royals in 2020.

It is claimed that their "royal currency is dwindling" because they haven't made a public appearance with the royals since the late Queen's funeral last September. Having said that, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are apparently trying to "hold on to their connections" in order to fund their lavish lifestyles.

"Meghan and Harry are in panic mode and it's becoming clearer and clearer that their royal currency is dwindling which is having a knock-on effect on their Hollywood careers. They both know full well that their success rests on their royal connections,” a source told Closer.

"Being snubbed from King Charles' birthday celebrations was a huge wake-up call that the Royal Family is no longer prepared to put on a façade in a bid to fund their Hollywood lifestyles,” the informant furthered.

Regarding Prince Harry, the insider stated that the King's youngest son wants the pair to "stand on their own two feet." However, Meghan Markle, who officially joined the Royal Family in 2018, believes they are being "phased out" gradually.

[Meghan] says she won't be seen as two-faced but they will need to make an effort to hold on to their connections. It's a difficult balance and it's definitely causing tension,” the tipster shared.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have had a difficult time since standing down as working royals, with several setbacks, particularly in their careers. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex confirmed earlier this year that their multi-million-pound partnership with Spotify was coming to an end.
