McDonald’s is testing an automated system in Fort Worth,Texas that lets customers order, pay for and collect food and beverages via touchscreens.
Dubbed Order Ahead Lane, the service is both for drive-through customers pre-ordering via the company’s app and in-store customers planning to dine at home or on the go.
The concept restaurant is considerably smaller than the traditional McDonald’s restaurant in the US.
The restaurant has a delivery pick-up room for couriers to retrieve orders quickly and conveniently. There are also kiosks, where customers can place their orders to go, and a pick-up shelf for orders.
There are also several parking spaces for curbside order pick-up and those designated for delivery drivers.
The restaurant’s app updates, food and beverage conveyor, and new kitchen format all streamline operations that lead to a fast, seamless experience for both customers and crew.
