Dayton, Ohio, May 04, 2017 -- MacAulay-Brown, Inc. (MacB), a leading National Security company delivering advanced engineering services, cybersecurity and product solutions, announced today that employee Sean A. Clifton will be inducted into the Ohio Military Hall of Fame on Friday, May 5 at 11:30 a.m. in the Ohio Statehouse Atrium in Columbus. Master Sergeant Clifton (Ret) is being honored, along with five other inductees, for serving multiple tours of combat in Iraq and Afghanistan as a Special Forces Intelligence Sergeant for U.S. Army Special Forces (Green Beret). He is also a Wounded Warrior who was critically injured in Eastern Afghanistan on Memorial Day in 2009.
Ohio’s Military Induction Ceremony is a high-profile event, with teammates, family members and friends attending from all over the country to honor Ohio veterans who received medals for valor while serving in the U.S. Armed Forces. It’s a public event with 250 seats available, but the Atrium will be standing-room only for the six nominees this year. The first class of veterans inducted was in 2000, and Ohio is recognized as the first U.S. state to officially honor its military heroes. All Class of 2017 inductees will receive the Ohio Medal of Valor.
MSG Clifton currently works for MacB’s Special Operations Command Europe (SOCEUR) team at Camp Dawson in West Virginia. He serves as a Defense Analyst and Special Operations Training Advisor during joint and combined Unconventional Warfare Exercises (UWX). The goal is to optimize force readiness for U.S. troops and international partners through the exercise of realistic tasks for deployment readiness within SOCEUR.
During a raid on a Taliban compound, he sustained combat injuries after being shot multiple times by Taliban fighters on May 31, 2009. Two of those wounds were critical. One hit his left arm and shattered his wrist. Another hit just under his body armor, entering his left waistline and damaging five major organs and causing nerve damage to his right leg. Two Special Forces teammates trained as combat medics kept him alive by stuffing gauze in both entry and exit wounds, and getting him safely loaded on a Medevac helicopter. MSG Clifton spent six months at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center undergoing more than 20 surgeries, followed by more than two years of intense rehabilitation at Ohio hospitals near home.
He has received numerous military service medals including The Bronze Star (Valor), Purple Heart Medal, Army Commendation Medal (Valor), Iraq Campaign Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, NATO Service Medal, the GWOT Service Medal and many others. MSG Clifton also earned a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in Criminal Justice and Intelligence Studies from Tiffin University in 2011.
Today, he is a Wounded Warrior athlete and passionate advocate of volunteer programs that support healing Wounded Veterans through fitness. MacB is a proud philanthropic supporter of organizations and charities including the Wounded Warrior Project, the Special Operations Warrior Foundation, the Special Operations Defense Industry Scholarship Fund, Special Operations Survivors, Operation Second Chance and many others.
MSG Clifton is a recognized public speaker, and has been featured in regional and national news stories including Good Morning America, GX Magazine (The Fight to Save the Eagle), a Ford “Oval of Honor” Award and the Ohio News Network with Sergeant Mark Wanner, the Special Forces teammate and Silver Star recipient who saved his life.
He currently resides in Dublin, Ohio with his wife Sarah and their three sons.
