MILPITAS, Calif., March 17, 2016 -- Lumentum Holdings Inc. (“Lumentum”) has added a high-speed dual-channel coherent receiver to its comprehensive portfolio of Transmission Components and Modules that address coherent optical networking applications. The device integrates two-channels into a single compact form factor with a SPI interface, enabling higher density solutions. Supporting QPSK and QAM transmission formats, as well as high bandwidth capability, the device enables optimization of higher-baud rates and constellation densities while maintaining long-haul reach at 200 Gbps per channel. Samples are available now.
“Increasing demand for access to ever larger data capacity fueled by the Internet and cloud computing has accelerated deployment of the 100G-based network infrastructure,” said Doug Alteen, vice president, product line management, Telecom. “Benefiting both long-haul and metro-optical networks, our new dual-channel device has twice the data capacity of existing solutions.”
The dual-channel Intradyne Coherent Receiver (ICR) integrates two polarization beam splitters, four 90-degree hybrid mixers with a high-speed photodetector array, and two four-channel linear transimpedance amplifiers supporting high bandwidth. Additionally, the device’s SPI interface enhances control of both analog and digital control/monitor functions of the ICR electronics which are important for next generation networks.
“Customers with dual-channel coherent ASICs are now leveraging our dual-channel ICR solution for existing and future deployments,” said Kevin Affolter, director, product line management, Tunable Transmission.
Lumentum has a full array of modulators (including lithium-niobate), detectors/receivers, and tunable transmission products for telecommunications, CATV, and other specialty applications.
Many of these products will be on display in Lumentum’s booth #2200, at OFC 2016, in Anaheim, California from March 20-24, 2016.
