LedgerAssets, the developer of blockchain powered notary service Uproov, has announced that it working on an app – Call Recorder Blockchain – that enables recording users’ phone calls in the background, thereby automatically recording proof that a call was made at a certain point in time, CoinDesk reported.
The call logging feature is already functional in the recently launched Android version of Uproov and the Call Recorder Blockchain app will be released in the next few days for Android devices, John Bulich, co-founder of LedgerAssets, said.
“This is quite a breakthrough as it now puts in the hands of the general public the world’s most powerful mobile phone call recording system that would be very difficult to challenge”, Bulich said. “These call recordings cannot be altered in any way, however, you the customer is still in full control of the content and can decide who to share it with, if at all. Again no need to even trust UPROOV with the audio files, they can all remain on your phone.”
Bulich said that the app will help users to clear up any misunderstanding over statements made during a phone conversation. He told IBTimes UK that while current standard call recording apps have 10 million downloads, their recordings are vulnerable to editing.
“Uproov takes it to a whole new level”, Bulich said. “It's impossible to change any part of the recording as its 'key' is written into the Blockchain, which is of course immutable. It's basically what would be required if you ever needed to rely on the audio files in a legal dispute."
He explained that when the recording mode is switched to 'on' in the app, it starts automatically recording every call and uproovs it to the blockchain.
