CHICAGO, Feb. 13, 2018 -- VelocityEHS, the global leader in cloud-based environment, health, safety (EHS) and sustainability solutions, released enhancements to its MSDSonline SDS/Chemical Management software that simplifies Tier II reporting. Now, MSDSonline HQ and HQ RegXR Account users can seamlessly comply with the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA’s) recent adoption of OSHA’s GHS-aligned Hazard Communication Standard (HazCom or HCS) classifications. Facilities subject to Tier II reporting obligations must submit reports containing the newly expanded list of chemical hazard classifications, beginning with the upcoming March 1, 2018 deadline.
In addition to providing resources that help safety professionals more easily identify newly required GHS classification information for chemical products in their inventory, the VelocityEHS-MSDSonline system maps their corresponding Tier II report data directly to a submittable Tier II report form. The form can quickly and easily be imported directly into the EPA’s Tier2 Submit application – the agency’s electronic Tier II submission software – or E-Plan, the online Tier II reporting system for certain states.
“Compliance with Tier II reporting depends upon effective management of a facility’s chemical inventory, and the timely, accurate fulfilment of reporting obligations,” said Glenn Trout, president and CEO of VelocityEHS. “The enhancements we made to our Tier II reporting functionality are just another example of our commitment to simplifying customer compliance. We’ve removed confusion around the new EPA Tier II classifications while streamlining the submission process.”
Mandated by Section 312 of the Emergency Planning and Community Right-To-Know Act (EPCRA) – also known as the Superfund Amendments and Reauthorization Act (SARA) – Tier II forms capture critical information about the types, quantities and locations of hazardous chemicals at a given facility. Submitted annually to local fire departments, Local Emergency Planning Committees (LEPC) and State Emergency Response Commissions (SERCs), Tier II reports help local and state emergency responders prepare for chemical events that could affect the community, and provide an emergency point of contact for each reporting facility. Visit www.EPA.com to learn more.
VelocityEHS is hosting a free webinar, “EPA Tier II Reporting: How To Ensure Compliance with Updated Requirements” on February 26, 2018 from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. EST that covers the history and purpose of Tier II reporting, common reporting mistakes, and strategies to stay in compliance. An on-demand recording of the webinar is also available at no additional cost.
The MSDSonline SDS/Chemical Management solution from VelocityEHS streamlines annual compliance tasks – like Tier II reporting – by storing and organizing safety data sheets (SDSs) for chemical products, tracking the status and use of those products in inventory, and generating regulatory forms. The system’s Plan1 service also facilitates the sharing of chemical location and inventory information with local emergency-response agencies, helping to better safeguard first-responders, workers, facilities and their surrounding communities.
