Italy’s wage inflation remains flat sequentially in November

Italy’s hourly index rose in November. The country’s wage inflation accelerated 0.1 percent on a sequential basis and 0.5 percent on a year-on-year basis, according to Italy’s official statistics office Istat. In October, Italy’s wage inflation was 0.1 percent sequentially and 0.6 percent on a year-on-year basis. Meanwhile, the per employee was up 0.2 percent on a sequential basis, whereas it rose 0.6 percent on a year-on-year basis.

At the end of November 2016, the coverage rate, which is the share of national collective agreements in force for the wage setting aspects, came in at 32 percent in terms of employees and 30.9 percent in terms of the total amount of wages.

For the January-November 2016 period, Italy’s wage inflation accelerated 0.6 percent year-on-year, whereas the per employee index was up 0.7 percent on a year-on-year basis.
