Hyundai Motor Co. and Culture Convenience Club Co. (CCC) have announced a partnership aiming to expand car-sharing services and promote zero-emission vehicles in Japan, furthering Hyundai's recent return to the Japanese market.
Yonhap News Agency reported that Hyundai Motor and the CCC signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) for the partnerships that will also include cooperation for data-based marketing and setting up of an EV experience platform in Japan.
In addition, the vehicle manufacturer will promote its EV battery and electric vehicles via marketing campaigns that will be carried out together with CCC. The deal's EV experience program will also give Japanese customers a chance to become familiar with Hyundai's zero-emission cars.
After more than a decade of hiatus, Hyundai has only returned to the Japanese market last year. It left in 2009 due to low sales of its gas-powered vehicles. Now it is making its comeback and offering all-electric models that are currently in high demand. It was further explained that the strategic cooperation between Hyundai Motor and CCC aims to expand the new mobility lifestyle in Japan and the global markets.
"Through this collaboration, we expect to create new opportunities through various endeavors," Hyundai Motor Company's president and CEO, Chang Jae Hoon, said in a press release. "In particular, CCC, which plans new lifestyles by thoroughly analyzing customers' preferences, and Hyundai Motor's ZEV culture will work together to build a differentiated Hyundai brand image."
CCC's president and chief operating officer, Yasunori Takahashi, also stated, "As a lifestyle content company, CCC has contributed to the creation of diverse lifestyles in Japan and with the current changes in the global environment and the significant changes in people's life values, the concept of sustainability has begun to penetrate car life as well.
Takahashi added, "This partnership is in line with Hyundai's vision and values, and we hope to propose a new ZEV lifestyle to our customers, promote their wellness and lead social action for zero emissions on a global scale."
