Honda will recall a total of 628,124 vehicle units in the U.S. The call back is in connection to an issue with the fuel pumps.
ABC News reported that Honda would be replacing the said car part after discovering that it can fail and cause engines to stop working. With vehicles losing engine power, it could increase the risk of a crash.
The affected units
The automaker is recalling many of its Acura and Honda SUV models that were manufactured in the years 2018 to 2020. This includes the CR-V, which is the firm’s best-selling unit in the U.S.
As shared on the KRQE News, the complete list of the Honda models to be recalled are the 2018 and 2019 CR-V, Accord made in 2019 and 2020, Civic Coupe 2019, Sedan and Type R, the Civic Hatchback 2019 and 2020, 2019 Fit, Insight models from 2019 and 2020, HR-V from 2019, Odyssey, Passport, Ridgeline and Pilot from 2019. Finally, the Acura models, these include the 2019 ILX, the 2019 and 2020 MDX, RDX and TLX.
Then again, despite the latest Honda recall, the company said that there are no reports of injuries or a crash involving the model units that would be recalled. The company said that the issue is because of the impeller, which is the rotating part of the pump. This component could not be functioning properly and could cause the engine to stall.
Announcement of the recall
All owners of the affected Honda vehicles will be receiving a notification through emails. The messages will start coming in late May, and the dealers would be ready to replace the fuel pumps at no cost.
The owners are reminded to immediately visit an authorized dealer as soon as they receive the notification from Honda. For those who are not certain if their vehicles are included in the recalls, they are encouraged to personally check online to confirm.
Owners just have to visit www.recalls.honda.com or www.recalls.acura.com and enter their vehicle identification number in the provided section. Lastly, they can also call the Honda hotline (888) 234-2138 from Monday to Friday during business hours.
