'Heartstopper' Season 3 Release Date, Cast and Spoilers: All Things Fans Should Know By Now

“Heartstopper” Season 3 is on the way to Netflix, which is great news for fans who were charmed by the first installment's lovely story of adolescent LGBTQ+ love in all its manifestations. The love story revolving around Charlie and Nick has already proven to be one for ages, and Netflix has been commended for recognizing the importance of showing this type of love on screen.

On April 22, 2022, Netflix distributed “Heartstopper” to a global audience. The series is based on the graphic novel and webcomic of the same name. The show provided a well-structured story of love and camaraderie, paving the door for increased on-screen portrayal of commonly disadvantaged cultures. Given the popularity of the first and second seasons, it's no wonder that “Heartstopper” Season 3 is in high demand.

On Rotten Tomatoes, the first two installments of “Heartstopper” garnered 96% and 98% audience ratings, respectively. Seasons 1 and 2 may not have as many viewers as some of the streaming giant's other blockbusters, but the program has a loyal following and some of the best reviews. While fans await additional information, here is everything we know about the upcoming “Heartstopper” Season 3.

‘Heartstopper’ Season 3 Release Date

Unfortunately, no official release date for “Heartstopper” Season 3 has been revealed by Netflix, per EpicFlix. Most, if not all, fans will recall that Season 1 debuted in April 2022, with Season 2 following in August 2023. If this tendency continues, the upcoming third installment could arrive in late 2024.

It is also unknown whether the ongoing writer and actor strikes, which have interrupted the production of several television series and movies in Hollywood, would have an impact on the production of “Heartstopper” Season 3. However, series creator Alice Oseman confirmed earlier this month to Entertainment Weekly that she has been "actively writing" the story for the show's third installment.

‘Heartstopper’ Season 3 Cast

Without the reappearance of Joe Locke and Kit Connor as Charlie Spring and Nick Nelson, respectively, “Heartstopper” would not be the same. As a result, they are both likely to return for “Heartstopper” Season 3. Close friends Elle Argent, played by Yasmin Finney, Tao Xu, played by William Gao, Tara Jones, played by Corinna Brown, Darcy Olssen, played by Kizzy Edgell, and Isaac Henderson, played by Tobie Donovan, are expected to support the couple as their relationship progresses.

Sebastian Croft, who plays Ben, has confirmed that he will not return for “Heartstopper” Season 3. In the Season 2 finale, Ben informed Charlie that he would be leaving Truham and apologized for his prior behavior. Charlie, on the other hand, did not let him off the hook, detailing how his toxic behavior has damaged him and his way of life. Sebastian, for one, was relieved that his tremendously intricate character was not offered a simple redemption.

Alice Oseman previously revealed that she opted to include Ben in Season 2 because she felt his presence was crucial to the tale, despite the fact that the character did not appear beyond Volume One of the books. The same cannot be true about “HeartStopper” Season 3.

‘Heartstopper’ Season 3 Spoilers

Because Season 2 was based on Volume 3 of the graphic book series, it is safe to assume that “Heartstopper” Season 3 will take place after the events of Volume 4. This picks up where the previous chapter left off, with Charlie wanting to say "I love you" to Nick.

After coming out to his father and becoming concerned about Charlie's eating condition, Nick has a lot on his plate in “Heartstopper” Season 3. Alice Oseman has had the ability to stray from the novels while being true to the source material; thus, new story aspects and character developments are not ruled out for Season 3.

Prior to the release of the second season, Oseman was asked to describe Heartstopper Season 3 in one word, and he replied, "Love." Meanwhile, Joe Locke stated in the production notes that he is unaware of the plot details for the upcoming installment but that he would like to see Charlie and Mr. Ajayi interact, which he wished they could have included in Season 2 but simply did not have time for.
