The new “Hearthstone” expansion, “Saviors of Uldum,” has now been released and the meta has been considerably shaken with the arrival of new cards and Hero Powers. Naturally, new decks will be emerging soon, and it would be interesting – and frustrating – to see which of them will dominate this new phase.
One of the “Hearthstone” decks that players are now playing = or hoping to complete, at least – is Thijs’ Brann/Reno Hunter deck. He’s been seeing a lot of success with it this past few days, and it’s worth a spin.
The deck is an aggressive tempo deck that also needs a bit of trading on your part, so be prepared to clear the board and not just simply go face all the time. Not the Hunter’s way, to be sure. But if you want to get better at “Hearthstone,” you’ll need to exercise restraint, especially with this deck.
The good news is that once you get rolling, your opponent will be playing reactively, clearing your board while you continuously deal damage. And when turn seven rolls around, you get to summon one of the most OP “Hearthstone” cards right now: Dinotamer Brann. The deck works especially well with the coin on your hand as it adds flexibility how to react to your opponent.
Another interesting “Hearthstone” deck that has recently cropped up is Trump’s Battlecry Shaman. The bad news on this deck is that it requires precise playing and a lot – and I mean a lot – of patience. Obviously, if you’re climbing rank, this shouldn’t be your deck since, well, each match takes a lot longer compared to Thijs’ deck. It can last nearly 20 minutes depending on what sort of deck you’re up against.
Interestingly enough, its weakness is overdrawing, which is the opposite problem for Shamans in general. But it’s fun, so there’s that. As for the overall reception of the new “Hearthstone” expansion, there is some criticism surrounding it, a natural occurrence since randomness is still a huge part of the game. Whatever the case, “Saviors of Uldum” has now brought a host of new mechanics into the meta and players will need to adjust accordingly if they want to hit legendary this season.
