The NASDAQ Biotechnology Index, which is re-ranked annually, is designed to track the performance of a set of NASDAQ-listed securities that are classified as either biotechnology or pharmaceutical according to the Industry Classification Benchmark (ICB). Companies in the NASDAQ Biotechnology Index must meet eligibility criteria, including a market capitalization of at least $200 million and an average daily trading volume of at least 100,000 shares.
