“Gears of War 5” will continue on the struggle between humanity and the vicious reptilian Locust faction. Stepping in as the major protagonist will be Kait Diaz, a returning character from the fourth entry.
In “Gears of War 5,” the story will revolve around Kait’s ancestry and her mysterious connection to the Horde. The trailer for the upcoming game revealed that she’s being plagued by nightmares and wants to dive deep as to what is causing her mental disturbances. This propels Kait in a perilous journey to find out who she truly is and what her destiny will be, GamingScan reported.
While “Gears of War 5” seems to have a compelling story to tell, some of the fans are accusing The Coalition developers as pandering into the growing feminist movement. One would only look at the Youtube and Reddit comments to see that the enthusiasm of some of the community members isn’t all that keen for the plot and its female lead.
Regardless of this sentiment, “Gears of War 5” will be having Kait as the main character and it would be interesting to see what the writers have included in her narrative. It appears that in lieu of the Locust, players will need to contend against The Swarm, an evolutionary version of the previous threat, The Sun reported.
As for the release date of the fifth installment, nothing has been announced just yet. However, if the developers handle it similarly to its predecessor, “Gears of War 5” is looking at a fall or Christmas release date. It can be recalled that the fourth entry was announced during E3 2015 and subsequently hit the shelves on October 2016.
With regards to how big the map will be, developers are touting that this will be the largest world they’ve ever created for the franchise to date. From the freezing tundra to the oppressive desert heat, players will explore the world of “Gears of War 5” and uncover hidden lore scattered across Sera.
