News broke out last week that a hidden mission in Grand Theft Auto V online involving aliens was finally found by a group of modders. However, since their previous method consisted of quite a bit of code tampering, it wasn’t exactly accessible to most players. Fortunately, the modders have recently revealed how other gamers can access the fabled mission without having to cheat in any way.
The new instructions were posted on Reddit by SSj5_Tadden who is one of the modders in the group called The Gurus. Tadd basically notes how he and his team backtracked through the codes to find the actual way of activating the mission without shortcuts and decided to share it with the world.
"As you may know from before," the post reads, "We changed a global variable to 20 to forcibly trigger this mission. But we have now traced back to the source, the various requirements needed. It appears that (brace yourself) the player must have: 601 completed gunrunning sales (the check is for 600 but 601 to be safe). And then start a supply run between: 21:00hrs and 23:00hrs."
With regards to super-secret missions that hardly anyone knows about, the method of activation might sound simple. However, as PC Gamer points out, 600 gun running missions are not exactly a walk in the park.
Only players with a considerable amount of time and dedication can make those kinds of numbers and the reward isn’t even that good. By all accounts, the mission itself is underwhelming, involving finding an egg and just shooting a few aliens right after. The whole thing won’t even take players an hour to get done.
What’s more, once the mission has been activated, it can no longer be accessed using the same method. Basically, it’s a whole lot of effort for a one-time payoff that is not exactly fulfilling.
