Various communication lines of Rockstar Games are probably bombarded with questions about “GTA 6” on a regular basis. When its Twitter page for Rockstar Support started telling people to “stay tuned” for updates on the next game, some fans took it as implying an announcement could be imminent.

Is ‘GTA 6’ getting announced in 2020?

A Reddit post compiled several links where the said Twitter page recently responded to “GTA 6” questions with practically the same response. In all Twitter replies, Rockstar advised fans to “stay tuned” to the Rockstar Newswire.

Some may find this a little far-fetched, but the same Reddit user pointed out a previous instance (from 2011) where Rockstar Support practically confirmed in an email to a customer about the current game’s announced by replying, “Stay tuned! ;)” Also, to be fair, that wording does sound like something is getting announced in the near future.

However, before fans get their hopes up, another Reddit user pointed out that the customer support page of Rockstar has been telling people to “stay tuned” for years. One of the similar tweets even dates back in 2016. It then appears that, unlike that 2011 email, the tweet replies to “GTA 6” questions may not mean anything special.

The final quarter of 2020 is already a very busy time for the video games industry with several AAA titles getting released and next-generation consoles arriving in stores. While not entirely impossible, this makes it less likely for Rockstar Games to schedule such a huge announcement like launching “GTA 6.”

‘GTA 6’ release date seems unlikely even in 2021, here’s why

Fans will have to consider the fact that Rockstar Games has already confirmed it is expanding the “GTA V” gameplay in time for the release of the next-generation consoles. During a PlayStation 5 event earlier this year, the project was confirmed without any mention of “GTA 6.” This is an indirect yet very clear message that the next game may not be the number one priority for the studio at this point.

Since the “GTA V” and “GTA Online” versions for next-generation consoles are not slated to be released until the second half of 2021, it also seems like the best fans can hope is for “GTA 6” to at least be announced next year. Overall, reading “stay tuned” still seems better as it hints the next title is in the pipeline.
