WASHINGTON, June 26, 2017 -- Frontier Strategy Group (FSG), the leading emerging market information services and advisory firm, won a total of 16 awards in this year's FocusEconomics Forecasts Awards, placing it in the top 6% in those categories. This is the second consecutive year that FSG has been recognized by FocusEconomics as a top macroeconomic forecaster (here are the awards we received in 2016). This achievement demonstrates FSG’s capability of delivering extremely high-quality macroeconomic forecasts on a consistent basis.
Each month, FocusEconomics aggregates forecasts from a variety of data providers, financial institutions, and international banks. Using this data, it ranked all forecasters in terms of their accuracy by calculating the error rate (the difference between the forecast and the actual value) for the past 24 months, weighting recent months more heavily than older months. FSG won awards in each of its major emerging market regions across Asia, Latin America, Europe, Middle East and Africa.
"Since launching FrontierData™ in 2014, our team’s forecasts have consistently outperformed long-established forecasters in the market. I am proud of our team’s accomplishments and forecast accuracy this year, in particular given the unprecedented global uncertainty,” said Richard Leggett, Chief Executive Officer of Frontier Strategy Group.
FSG analysts conduct forecasts through a proprietary methodology that features in-depth macroeconomic research and bottoms-up market experience gained from primary research and over 1,600 in-depth discussions with its clients across various industries and regions annually. Since the launch of FrontierData, in addition to the recognition given by FocusEconomics, FSG's forecasts have consistently outperformed many global benchmarks and peers in the market, including the IMF. In a previous analysis comparing FrontierData forecasting performance to the IMF's World Economic Outlook, FSG's forecast estimates were found to be two to four months ahead of the IMF. Two to four months of additional visibility into market performance is extremely valuable to FSG's more than 200 corporate clients, all which have increasing revenue and profit exposure to international markets.
