FrieslandCampina and Mondelēz International embark on a four-year commitment to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in the dairy supply chain. Targeting a 14% cut by 2025, this partnership represents a significant move towards achieving net climate-neutral dairy production by 2050. The initiative aims to stimulate industry-wide carbon reduction and exemplify sustainable business collaboration.
This partnership holds great promise not only for FrieslandCampina and Mondelēz International but also for inspiring other companies to contribute and share best practices in the pursuit of sustainability. Working together, the two companies are committed to accelerating existing efforts and setting a new standard for reducing carbon emissions in the dairy industry.
Sanne Griffioen-Roose, the director of farm sustainability at FrieslandCampina, articulates the company's vision: "We are driven to achieve net climate-neutral dairy production by 2050 at the latest." To accomplish this, FrieslandCampina adopts a comprehensive approach to measuring, taking action, and monitoring progress. Through collaboration with Mondelēz International, they recognize and reward their farmers for their greenhouse gas reductions and invest in programs that continuously improve sustainability on the farms.
Vanessa Harrer, the senior director of marketing and sustainability at Mondelēz Europe, highlights dairy ingredients' crucial role in their well-known brands like Milka, Cadbury Dairy Milk, and Philadelphia. As part of its sustainability strategy, which is one of the company's core pillars, Mondelēz Europe takes pride in investing in a strong partnership with FrieslandCampina in Europe. Together, they actively encourage and support initiatives to measure, reduce, track, and report carbon emissions.
This collaboration between FrieslandCampina and Mondelēz International is a testament to their shared commitment to sustainability and a catalyst for positive action in the dairy industry. By working hand in hand, they demonstrate how business partnerships can drive meaningful change and combat the pressing challenge of climate change.
