SAN MATEO, Calif., Nov. 03, 2016 -- In a significant industry milestone to advance brand protection, Farsight Security, Inc., provider of the world’s largest real-time DNS threat intelligence, today announced the general availability of its two breakthrough solutions to fight online fraud and other cybercrime, Brand Sentry and Domain Sentry.
“As a contributor and user of Farsight Security's DNSDB passive DNS database, REN-ISAC is excited for the introduction of new tools and capabilities leveraging the data. Brand Sentry and Domain Sentry will provide valuable intelligence for rapidly detecting malicious intent based on domain name attacks. We look forward to working closely with Farsight to apply such protections in the higher education and research sector,” said Doug Pearson, Technical Director, REN-ISAC.
The Research and Education Networking Information Sharing and Analysis Center (REN-ISAC) is integral to higher education’s strategy to improve cybersecurity. The information sharing community, focused on actionable intelligence for operational protection and response, is formed of trusted representatives of over 500 member institutions. Additionally, REN-ISAC serves as the computer security incident response team (CSIRT) supporting the U.S. research and education community at-large.
“CybelAngel uses Farsight Security’s Passive DNS technology to help organizations identify online counterfeiters, their websites and networks more quickly and accurately. With the success of its world’s largest historical Passive DNS database, Farsight Security is bringing its premier DNS intelligence to the brand protection market. Brand Sentry and Domain Sentry significantly will help organizations reduce domain name abuse of their corporate brands,” said Erwan Keraudy, CEO and Cofounder, CybelAngel.
Brand Sentry allows organizations to monitor their brands for unauthorized or uncharacteristic usage in real time to quickly identify illegal, infringing, or threatening incidents. The Brand Sentry solution matches when an organization's brands or lookalikes are first detected in the real-time DNS feed.
To fight domain hijacking, domain theft and other types of cybercrime, organizations use Domain Sentry to monitor their domain names and IP addresses to gain unprecedented insights when their existing domains move IP addresses, use different name or mail exchanges and when different domains resolve into their IP addresses.
Farsight Security delivers the world’s largest real-time actionable threat intelligence information on how the Internet is changing and how it’s being used, seeing more than 200,000 DNS-related observations per second. Brand Sentry and Domain Sentry are the latest additions to the company’s real-time DNS threat intelligence product portfolio. The products were first unveiled at Black Hat USA 2016 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
