“FIFA 19” for the Nintendo Switch was supposed to improve on the foundations introduced by its predecessor. While it did do so with regards to the graphics, the missing features are a slap in the faces of Switch players. Some of the things that were not included in the game for the hybrid console are excusable, but the rest make “FIFA 19” for the Switch not worth buying.
The graphical upgrades for “FIFA 19” were noted most by Venture Beat, which went into detail as to just how the game looks better on the Switch compared to “FIFA 18.” It is the animation aspect of the title that gives it the biggest advantage over its predecessor and the most noticeable improvement. On that note, this was supposedly not accomplished by major changes in the engine.
It would seem that the developers simply threw in some extra frames in “FIFA 19” so that the animation looks better. While the result is certainly an improvement, fans might not appreciate this approach as much as an actual change in the way the game was ported to the Switch.
Speaking of which, “FIFA 19” also comes with a few missing features that were pointed out by NintendoLife. Compared to other consoles and platforms, the title on the Switch does not have the Division Rivals mode, for starters. It also does not feature the FUT Champions events and the Squad Battles. The daily challenges that are supposed to provide players with rewards are also not in the game.
EA has yet to provide a reason for why these features are missing from “FIFA 19,” but they can be interpreted as nothing less than a complete disrespect to Switch players. For those who still want to play this game, “FIFA 19” is out now, but owners of the hybrid console should be aware of its faults.
