TORTOLA, British Virgin Islands, June 16, 2016 -- ExpressVPN is delighted to announce the launch of its scholarship program, The ExpressVPN Future of Privacy Scholarship. The program consists in an essay contest, rewarding the most talented compositions with a total of $4,000 (USD) in cash prizes.
The ExpressVPN Future of Privacy Scholarship was created to raise awareness around the following topics:
- Internet privacy
- Data security
- Free speech
By 2018, ninety-nine percent of classrooms across the U.S. will be equipped with unprotected high-speed broadband. But with that growing connectivity comes an increased risk of privacy exposure. As more students are bringing their Internet-ready devices to class, awareness of basic online security and a fundamental understanding of privacy rights are more important than ever.
The application period is now open until August 31, 2016, 11:59 PM PST. Applicants can compete by writing about one of the following topics:
- We Own the Future
- Privacy Advocates
- Privacy in Real Life
The best essay will win a grand prize of $2,500, while the first and second runner-ups will be rewarded with $1,000 and $500, respectively. Winners will be notified by email and announced publicly at https://www.expressvpn.com/blog/ on October 14, 2016.
Note: This scholarship is open to attendees of U.S. based universities only. However, there is no citizenship requirement.
Full application details, competition guidelines, and awards information are available on the competition page (https://www.expressvpn.com/expressvpn-scholarship)
