TULSA, Okla., Feb. 08, 2017 -- Everest Sciences Corporation, a leading provider of production enhancement solutions for the natural gas, power generation, chemical production and other industries, announced today it received an order for, and has shipped and achieved successful operations of the CleanChill™ cooling system at Cherokee Nitrogen of Cherokee, Alabama. This is the second order from LSB Industries’ (NYSE:LXU) Cherokee plant, and represents another in a series of follow on units that Everest Sciences has operating at prominent chemical processing and natural gas transportation and processing companies.
“Cherokee Nitrogen recognized early on that adding suction air chilling to its air compressors will increase production during hot, or even warm months of the year,” said Gary Hilberg, President of Everest Sciences. “Our CleanChill solution is increasing production on their Ammonia train, demonstrating the value of Everest Sciences’ technology and, along with additional orders from other chemical processing companies shows the momentum Everest Sciences has achieved in this market segment.”
CleanChill is a gas turbine and air compressor cooling solution that provides chilled inlet air, allowing the turbine or compressor to operate at greater output and efficiency during higher ambient temperatures. As a complement to the company’s ECOChill™ and ECOCool™ solutions, CleanChill offers an alternative, direct chilling approach which utilizes the company’s market-leading technology and expertise in process cooling.
The modular CleanChill system was factory fabricated, and installed successfully at Cherokee Nitrogen. Although it has only been running for a short time, initial analysis shows that the system is meeting the promised performance, and that the plant is benefitting from increased Ammonia production.
Cherokee Nitrogen L.L.C. operates a 160 acre, multi-product facility on a 1,300 acre site located on the bank of the Tennessee River in Cherokee, Alabama. The company produces a wide variety of industrial and agrochemical products including anhydrous ammonia, nitric acid, ammonium nitrate, urea, and urea ammonium nitrate.
“We are excited to be working with Everest Sciences again, after the successful implementation of their ECOChill solution on our nitric acid plant,” said Ben VanVeckhoven, General Manager at Cherokee Nitrogen. “We are confident that their solution will allow us to increase our Ammonia plant production above what we previously achieved with a rental cooling unit.”
Everest Sciences production enhancement solutions provide a factory packaged system for its customers in the chemical industry that efficiently create cooler, denser air which debottlenecks their air machines, leading to significant increases in full year production. These solutions have proven to have paybacks of less than one to three years.
