“Dr. Stone” season 2 has been confirmed late last year and fans are eagerly waiting for it now. The anime debuted in July 2019 and it concluded in December. It offered a total of 24 episodes and while it was also broadcasted on several TV networks including MX, SUN and KBS, it is also being streamed on Netflix and Crunchyroll to reach fans worldwide.
Along with the renewal announcement, it was also revealed that “Dr. Stone” season 2 will feature the “Stone Wars” arc and this will be led by Senku and his close friends Gen and Chrome. They are expected to have more inventions, Science projects and explorations as they are aiming to find answers on the mystery of the petrification.
How did the unfortunate happen and why? Who did it? They want to find the answers and get a solution to depetrify people and allow them to live freely again.
Petrification theory
On Reddit, a fan posted a theory about the petrification. He stated its possible origin and it could be correct because this was also part of the legend that astronauts believed. The poster said that in the jungles of South America, an archeological expedition unearthed the remains of an unknown high tech civilization and they also found the device that petrified every living things thousands of years ago.
The group started testing the device animals like birds. They petrified and unpetrify them over and over and when they have figured out how to use it properly, they tried it on humans but something went wrong and the petrification wave spread affected everything on the planet. Since Ishigami and the other astronauts are not on Earth, they survived.
Start of the new arc
Then again, this has yet to be proven and if it is true, Senku may come across something that will give him a hint that this was what happened in the world. At any rate, “Dr. Stone” season 2 will also be about battles and not just finding the truth about the petrification. As shown in the preview trailer, the Science genius and his friends will face new enemies and they have to work together to defend the Ishigami village and its inhabitants.
Cast, plot and release date
Aside from the mentioned characters, “Dr. Stone” season 2 will return with Taiju Oki, Tsukasa Shishio, Yuzuriha Ogawa, Kohaku, Suika most of the villagers. It will be back some time in July if there will be no delays, as per Game Revolution.
