Donald Trump is running for his second term at the White House and the Americans officially cast their votes on Nov. 3. As of this time, Trump and Joe Biden’s votes do not have big gaps but the POTUS stated losing would be hard for him.
Although Donald Trump is confident that he will emerge as the winner in his bid to retain his position as the president of the U.S., Yahoo News reported that he still showed concern in case he loses. He is concerned that the prosecutors will run after him and scrutinize all his business dealings.
What is causing Trump to be worried if he loses vs. Joe Biden
It was revealed that if Donald Trump loses, he will not be able to use the lawyers of the Justice Department to defend him in his cases. This means that in the event the prosecutors go after him once he steps down from the White House, he will have to defend himself and hire his own legal team.
With a lack of powerful support, there is a chance he would be jailed, The New York Times reported. Also, Trump reportedly told his advisers that he would feel really embarrassed if he lost.
“Man, it’s going to be embarrassing if I lose to this guy,” Trump allegedly told his advisers in case he failed to remain as the POTUS.“This guy!” (referring to his rival Joe Biden).
Donald Trump’s biggest fear is being probed as he may be proven to have committed errors or mistakes that may entail harsh consequences. It may be difficult for him to evade the punishment if found guilty losing is like an endgame for him.
“Given that more than a dozen investigations and civil suits involving Trump are currently underway, he could be looking at an endgame even more perilous than the one confronted by Nixon,” Michael Beschloss, presidential historian, told Jane Mayer of the New Yorker. “If he loses, you have a situation that’s not dissimilar to that of Nixon when he resigned. Nixon spoke of the cell door clanging shut.”
The current result of the 2020 US election
Meanwhile, as of this time of writing, the result of the presidential poll is 224 vs. 213 in favor of Joe Biden. The Democratic presidential candidate may be in the lead but the gap is not that big so Donald Trump could still turn the table.
So far, Donald Trump was already declared as the winner in Ohio, Texas and Florida, as per the Daily Mail. The full and official result is expected to be in before Friday, Nov. 6.
