It’s been some time since the last Devil May Cry game came out, with the last one featuring a reboot of the franchise, hipster Dante and all. According to a recent leak, however, it seems Devil May Cry 5 might finally be revealed soon. The leak included details such as the possible release date and that it could be exclusive to the PlayStation 4.
This newest leak comes courtesy of a post on the forum site ResetEra, which includes a ton of details about the supposed upcoming Devil May Cry 5. Now, it’s worth noting that nothing has been confirmed, at this point. Neither the existence of the game or the planned development of it have been made concrete despite rumors swirling about for years.
According to the post, the release window for the game might be between April 2018 and March 2019, which is incredibly non-specific. It also appears that the title was partially funded by Sony, which fuels speculation that it is going to be exclusive to the PS4. If not, a timed exclusive deal could also be involved, but again, nothing has been confirmed.
It would seem that the unveiling of the game won’t be made during the upcoming PSX event either. Instead, it will reportedly be revealed during E3 2018.
As to what the game’s plot is going to be, it apparently starts following the events of Devil May Cry 4, Comicbook.com reports. There will apparently be three playable characters, with certain plot points harking back to previous games, so readers should be aware of potential spoilers when reading the documents.
For those who are hoping for an open-world DMC, the leak indicates that they will only be partially happy. The game will reportedly be more open than previous games, which followed linear stories and environments, but it won’t be completely open-world either.
