"Death Stranding 2" has once again made headlines recently after Norman Reedus appeared to have confirmed he has started working on the next game. Hideo Kojima has since responded to the actor's statement, which further fueled speculations that the sequel is already in the works.
To recap, Reedus briefly discussed "Death Stranding 2" in an interview with Leo published last week. When asked whether he is filming for the Kojima Productions game, the actor said, "We just started the second one." Back in August, during a "The Walking Dead" press event, the actor also confirmed that negotiations for him to return for the sequel were underway.
Kojima Productions remains mum on the status of the "Death Stranding 2" development, but its founder has a funny way of addressing the new round of headlines that followed Reedus' interview. Without directly addressing the actor's comments on filming for the sequel, Kojima posted several photos on Twitter with the actor in what appears to be a filming set for "The Walking Dead." Kojima captioned the post, "Go to your private room, my friend."

The private room is a reference to one of the features in the first "Death Stranding." Reedus' character, Sam Bridges, goes to the private room to recuperate or review details of his mission. When in the private room, players do not control the main protagonist, and they instead become a different entity that can somewhat interact with the character. However, the tweet may also be Kojima's fun way to remind Reedus to keep details about the "Death Stranding 2" production for now.
With the latest comment from Reedus, it is now very likely that the work on "Death Stranding 2" began. But it might still take a while before the game arrives. Going by what the actor said, filming for mo-cap scenes for the sequel has just started.
While Kojima Productions has yet to announce the development of "Death Stranding 2," Kojima has previously stated that he is open to creating a second game for this IP. "When this game comes out there will be a lot of pros and cons, and [these elements could become the essence of the core part], but I think it's better that I keep it going in a sequel," Kojima told GameSpot in 2019.
