(NASDAQ:CLSD), a late-stage biopharmaceutical company developing first-in-class drug therapies to treat back-of-the-eye diseases, today announced that it has been selected by NASDAQ for inclusion in the NASDAQ Biotechnology Index® (NBI). The annual re-ranking of the NBI will become effective at market open on Monday, December 19, 2016.
The NBI is designed to track the performance of a set of NASDAQ-listed securities that are classified as either biotechnology or pharmaceutical according to the Industry Classification Benchmark (ICB). These companies must meet eligibility requirements, including minimum market capitalization, average daily trading volume, and seasoning as a public company, among other criteria. The NBI forms the basis for a number of Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs) including the iShares NASDAQ Biotechnology ETF.
