SAN FRANCISCO and AMSTERDAM, The Netherlands, Feb. 15, 2018 -- Today Chartboost announced the official launch of its Creative Studio, a new dedicated in-house creative team. Chartboost Creative Studio collaborates directly with clients to develop mobile branded video and interactive content, driven by detailed engagement data observed in every iteration. Using unique and specific target audience research and segmentation, the studio builds the right creative mobile ads for the right audiences. Brands using the studio can achieve an average conversion rate (impressions to installs) increase of 60%, and average eCPM improvement of 40% for a complete creative set.
New Interactive Ad Formats Drive Meaningful Engagement and Increase Installs
In order to reach new users, brands have become increasingly interested in interactive ads that not only showcase products but deliver compelling messages--encouraging users to take an action--and ads that measure results in real-time. According to an IPG Media Lab report, interactive ads extend the amount of time consumers spend with the brand, driving a 47% lift in time spent with the ad versus non-interactive ads. The same study also found that interactive video ad engagement is tied to purchase intent, driving nine times higher impact on purchase intent, as opposed to passively viewing a video ad. Interactivity in ads is especially important for brands looking to gain both awareness and installs for their apps. The global app economy will be worth $6.3 trillion by 2021 yet with so many apps struggling for awareness and new users, many brands struggle to cut through the noise, and most importantly increase traffic from qualified users. Not surprisingly, US app-install ad revenue is expected to grow to over $7 billion by year-end 2020.
Chartboost has years of data and experience working with top gaming companies to create tailored and playful ad units. Chartboost Creative Studio’s mission is to leverage that expertise and apply it across new verticals, such as food delivery, eCommerce and travel. The studio uses machine learning to create innovative designs that optimize for conversions and return on ad spend.
“We’ve been listening to our customers and we know brands not only want, but need to increase their ad performance,” said Johan Lofstrom, VP of Chartboost EMEA. “That’s why we’re excited to launch Chartboost Creative Studio, where we’re now delivering the kind of interactive mobile ads with the in-ad data and retention rates advertisers have been looking for.”
Creative Studio takes the burden off advertisers, by helping them outsource the creative process for their ads, from ideation to A/B testing. The studio team also tracks in-ad data to keep optimizing ad units. For instance, if a user doesn’t install an app after seeing an interactive ad, the advertiser is able to see their interaction path within the ad and detect drop off. This data is critical to fine tuning the messaging and ad experience to increase brand awareness and conversions.
"The Chartboost Creative Studio team was great to work with, consistently delivering unique creatives that we love,” said Camilo Fitzgerald, Futureplay Analyst. “Best of all we have 10x'ed our install volume on the Chartboost network."
Increasing install rates is a major challenge for mobile marketing managers today. The goal is to increase the eCPM with the minimum cost-per-install (CPI) possible. Higher conversion rates allow advertisers to get higher reach and access to better in-app inventory, keeping the same price per user. According to Bosi LV, VP of acquisition at Heartbeat “...since working with Creative Studio on playable ads, we've increased our return on ad spend (ROAS) by 15%. We are excited to continue working with the in-house creative team and can't wait to see more powerful, innovative ad types from Chartboost."
