After being pushed back from its intended 2023 release date, the anime adaptation of “Chained Soldier” now has an official premiere date. Fans of the “Chained Soldier” manga series were dissatisfied when the premiere date of its anime adaptation was pushed back from 2023 to 2024. But the new year is approaching, and with it, the release date.
Takahiro and Yohei Takemura's Chained Soldier manga debuted in 2019 and has since earned a big international fanbase. It's not surprising, then, that it's receiving the anime treatment. Here is everything we know so far about the upcoming “Chained Soldier” anime series.
‘Chained Soldier’ Release Date
The official release date of “Chained Soldier” is on January 4, 2024, per Dexerto. After months of speculation and disappointment regarding its official appearance, the wait is finally (or nearly) over. “Chained Soldier” will air on Tokyo MX on January 4th.
‘Chained Soldier’ Cast
Here is the full cast list of the upcoming “Chained Soldier” anime series: Yuuki Wakura, voiced by Yuya Hirose; Kyouka Uzen, voiced by Akari Kito; Himari Azuma voiced by Yume Miyamoto, Shushu Suruga voiced by Mari Hino, Nei Okawamura voiced by Hina Tachibana, Tenka Izumo voiced by Maaya Uchida, Yachiho Azuma voiced by Nene Hieda, Sahara Wakasa voiced by Reina Ueda, Aoba Wakura voiced by Tomori Kusunoki, Koko Zenibako voiced by Sayaka Senbongi and Naon Yuno voiced by Rina Hidaka.
The anime is being produced by Seven Arcs, the studio behind “Basilisk: The Oka Ninja Scrolls,” and veteran director Junji Nishimura is directing alongside Goro Kuji. The narrative will be written by Yasuhiro Nakanishi, Ryota Kano, and Akira Kindaichi, while the musical score will be composed by “Attack on Titan: The Final Season” award-winning composer Kohta Yamamoto.
‘Chained Soldier’ Spoilers
This dark fantasy action series is not for children. “Chained Soldier” centers on Yuuki Wakura, a recent high school graduate who mistakenly enters a monster portal in an alternate version of Japan where monsters known as Shuuki roam and a rare peach tree can offer women magical powers. Inside, he meets Kyouka Uzen, a lady who ate one of these supernatural peaches and rose to become the monster-hunting commander of the Demon Defense Force's 7th squad.
Kyouka's abilities function by "enslaving" Shuuki to battle other Shuuki. When Yuuki and Kyouka are besieged, the only way out is for her to enslave him. They get together to confront the mystery monsters and save the world.
