Cumberland County, NC – As home to the 82nd Airborne, the US Army Special Forces and the US Army Forces Command, it’s safe to say “when the President calls 911, Fort Bragg answers.” The residents of Fayetteville and the communities of Cumberland County call these heroes “neighbor.” It’s no surprise that the community was recognized as one of the most patriotic in the US by NewsMax Magazine.
While this patriotism is evident 365 days a year, July 4th is a special time in the Fort Bragg region. Celebrations large and small mark July 4th, most notably a massive celebration at Fort Bragg.
July 2nd
Spend a Star Spangled Kind of Day at the Cape Fear Botanical Garden. From 12 p.m. – 5 p.m., the entire family can enjoy bounce houses, lawn games, crafts and more. Food trucks will be on site. Dark Horse Duo performs throughout the day. Admission for active duty and veterans is free. All others are $5. www.CapeFearBg.org
July 3rd
Following an 7 p.m. game at J.P. Riddle Stadium, the Fayetteville Swampdogs launch a Fireworks Extravaganza. The fireworks show is free, but game admission requires a ticket. www.GoSwampdogs.com
July 4th
At 7 a.m., the Firecracker 4 Miler offers an active way to celebrate the 4th of July. This four- mile course winds through the beautiful and historic parks and museums of downtown Fayetteville. A one-mile course is available. Kids, strollers and dogs are invited. MORE
Hope Mills marks the 4th of July with an Independence Day Parade at 10 a.m and a Party in the Park from 4 p.m. – 10 p.m. The Party includes entertainment, games, food, tournaments, vendors and a fireworks show at dark. MORE
Open to the general public, Fort Bragg’s July 4th Celebration starts at 3 p.m. on the Main Post Parade field. Attendees are treated to performances by North Carolina native Chase Rice, the JC Allstars, the 82nd Airborne Division Rock Band, parachute free-fall demonstrations, a flag ceremony, fireworks, and food and beverages.
