Wall Street-backed Canton Network is strengthening its presence in South Korea through strategic partnerships with Shinhan Financial Group, Hanwha, and LG CNS, accelerating the adoption of blockchain technology in institutional finance and digital assets.

Supported by major financial institutions including Goldman Sachs, BNP Paribas, Nasdaq, and Citadel Securities, Canton Network is expanding its blockchain infrastructure across Asia as demand for tokenized financial services increases.

Shinhan Financial Group signed a memorandum of understanding with the Canton Foundation in June. The collaboration advanced in July when Shinhan Securities and Shinhan Venture Investment invested in Digital Asset, the company behind Canton Network.

In October, Shinhan Asset Management became the first South Korean financial institution approved as a Canton Network super validator, allowing it to participate directly in blockchain operations and network security.

Hanwha Investment & Securities also strengthened its involvement after signing an agreement with Digital Asset in April and investing approximately 30 billion won ($22.44 million) in July. Meanwhile, LG CNS established a strategic partnership with Canton, expanding the network's reach into South Korea's technology industry.

Canton Network processes more than $300 billion in daily value transfers, providing privacy-focused blockchain infrastructure designed for institutional financial transactions. Unlike public blockchains, Canton enables financial institutions to control access to sensitive transaction information.

The network has also attracted global banking interest. HSBC previously completed a pilot using Canton Network to simulate the issuance, transfer, and settlement of tokenized bank deposits.

Digital Asset CEO Yuval Rooz highlighted South Korea's potential for blockchain adoption, suggesting that regulatory developments could unlock opportunities in an already technologically prepared market.

Canton Foundation head Viv Diwakar also emphasized the possibility of connecting South Korean equities with international investors through tokenized financial infrastructure.

Beyond South Korea, Canton Network is expanding in Japan. SBI Holdings announced in July that SBI Security Solutions had been renamed SBI Digital Practice, effective June 22, 2026. The business plans to use Canton Network infrastructure for institutional financial services.

The latest partnerships reinforce Canton's growing role in real-world asset tokenization, institutional blockchain adoption, and digital finance across Asia.

However, Shinhan and Hanwha have not disclosed transaction volumes associated with their Canton Network partnerships, leaving the commercial impact of these collaborations unclear.
