LONDON and LOS ANGELES, June 28, 2016 -- Grammy Award-winning violinist, and orchestral composer and arranger, Davide Rossi, performed the Bee Gee's classic Stayin' Alive Sunday with Coldplay and Barry Gibb at the Glastonbury Music Festival. Rossi is Coldplay's long-time musical collaborator who helped establish the full-spectrum, orchestral sound that has become a musical signature for the superstar group. For Sunday night's Glastonbury performance, Rossi brought to life the original string arrangement of the Bee Gees iconic song, and performed it live playing violin on-stage with Coldplay and Gibb.
"Davide has lent us his incredible talents on a number of songs over the past 10 years, from Viva la Vida to Paradise. It was fantastic to share the stage with him Sunday night," said Coldplay.
Rossi's work with Coldplay began with their first collaborative efforts on the multi-platinum, multi-Grammy Award-winning album Viva la Vida.He contributed to six tracks including the title track, which became the band's first UK and US #1 single. Rossi continued to collaborate with Coldplay on the 2010 follow-up Mylo Xiloto, the 2014's Ghost Stories, and the latest release, A Head Full Of Dreams.
In addition, Rossi was part of the core artistic production team behind the 50th Super Bowl Half Time Show, which took place in Santa Clara, California in February 2016. He scored the arrangements for Coldplay's medley of Viva La Vida/Paradise/Fix You, etc., and was also responsible for all coaching, rehearsals and the overall final performance of the YOLA string orchestra, conducted by Gustavo Dudamel, and the University of California Berkeley marching band.
Rossi's career highlights also include 13 years as band member with Goldfrapp and an intense creative partnership with The Verve, working on their last album Forth and headlining Glastonbury, the V Festival and other major festivals in Europe to promote it. He has contributed Grammy–award winning arrangements to Alicia Keys' latest two albums, and his work can also be heard on recent albums from Neil Diamond, One Direction, Jake Bugg, Röyksopp, Dido, Jon Hopkins, Rihanna, Ed Sheeran, James Bay, and many others.
Later this year, Rossi's distinctive sound will be on new albums from Bat For Lashes, Twin Atlantic, Chris Cornell, Regina Spektor and Arion. He is also collaborating with musician/producer Matt Hales of Aqualung, with a new album for the duo in the works.
