‘Boruto’ chapter 44: Koji Kashin’s backstory might reveal his real identity and why he wants to kill Jigen

Boruto / Facebook

While Team 7 successfully defeated Boro and rescued Naruto, the action won’t stop in “Boruto” chapter 44. This time, fans are getting ready for one spectacular fight, the fight between Kara members Jigen and Koji Kashin.

Koji Kashin’s motive

Apparently, all is not well with the Kara organization. It was already revealed a few chapters back that one of the group’s members, Koji Kashin, has actually been plotting to kill their leader, Jigen.

His chance finally arrived after Jigen was drained of energy in his fight against Naruto and Sasuke. Thus he immediately rushed to the Kara HQ to confront Jigen in his weakened state. Koji knows that he does not stand a chance against a fully-powered Jigen so he does not want to waste this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

Indeed, it was confirmed by Amado, Kara’s scientist, that Jigen is currently only at less than ten percent of his power. Upon learning, Koji confidently entered into the chamber where Jigen is recuperating. This could only mean one thing, a fight between the two will likely be the main event in “Boruto” chapter 44.

But the manga did not yet reveal just what Koji might get by killing Jigen. Hopefully, a brief backstory might be featured to explain Koji’s origin, how he ended up being a member of Kara and what his real purpose in killing its leader is.

Theory on Koji Kashin’s identity

There are various theories that attempt to explain the Kara member's real identity. But perhaps the most interesting of them all is that Koji might be one of the three Legendary Sannin, Jiraiya.

The theory is based on the fact that Koji seems to possess Jiraiya's Jutsus and abilities. For example, he can use toad summoning and even the Rasengan, the same technique Jiraiya taught Naruto in the original series.

Koji also seems to be knowledgeable on the Konohagakure Sensing Barrier. In fact, he was able to infiltrate the village without setting it off, a feat that is possible for those with Konoha blood such as Jiraiya.

Of course, Jiraiya was killed when he fought against Pain. However, there are speculations that he must have been resurrected by Jigen, but it wouldn’t explain why Koji would try to kill the leader. Hopefully, more hints on his identity will be revealed in “Boruto” chapter 44, which will arrive on March 20.
