Largo, Florida , June 07, 2017 --
Prime Medical, the exclusive provider of chlorine-shielded apparel and textiles for healthcare, announces a joint marketing venture with Clorox Healthcare®, a provider of healthcare disinfecting products. The partnership reflects both companies’ common goal of helping to remove HAI-causing pathogens from the healthcare environment so staff can focus on patient care and foster a safe environment for healing.
While Clorox Healthcare continues to tackle the threat of pathogen transmission via hard surfaces, Prime Medical has brought to market a revolutionary technology to address the problem of harmful pathogens harbored on soft surfaces like scrubs, privacy curtains, bed linens and patient gowns. Prime Medical’s SAF-T product line is made with a patented fabric technology that retains a shield of chlorine molecules when laundered in Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) registered bleach. The retained chlorine molecules kill potentially harmful bacteria and viruses that can be transmitted via both soft and hard surfaces.
SAF-T scrubs are proven to maintain color integrity without any fading or discoloration, even after contact with sodium hypochlorite-based solutions including Clorox Healthcare® Fuzion™ Cleaner Disinfectant and Clorox® Germicidal Bleach. SAF-T scrubs are the first apparel brand to earn the distinction of compatibility with the Clorox Healthcare Compatible™ program. The Clorox Healthcare Compatible™ program works with manufacturers to screen a broad platform of chemistries to help ensure furnishings, devices and specialized equipment intended for use in healthcare settings are compatible with the cleaning and disinfecting products used to help reduce the risk of infections.
The announcement is a direct benefit to Environmental Service (EVS) staff who clean and disinfect the healthcare environment and play a critical role in infection prevention. SAF-T scrubs ‘no-fade’ color technology ensures EVS uniforms will maintain their appearance and color integrity while staff utilize bleach products to clean and disinfect hard surfaces. The CDC, APIC and OSHA guidelines recommend bleach as a broad-spectrum sporicide to disinfect hard surfaces contaminated by blood spills and tough-to-kill pathogens such as C. difficile spores and norovirus, both of which are resistant to disinfection by quaternary ammonium compounds (QACs). Bleach is not only effective, it’s widely trusted. Eight out of 10 hospitals use bleach to kill pathogens of most concern in their facilities.
The Prime Medical’s SAF-T scrubs are an asset to facilities that utilize Clorox Healthcare® bleach products to target the reduction of healthcare associated pathogens. SAF-T scrubs are the only healthcare apparel designed to harness the power of bleach, while providing long-lasting wear and enabling EVS staff to work, worry-free, in uniforms that won’t fade.
