‘Bates Motel’ season 5’s episode 8, titled “The Body,” will feature Norman as he is held in police custody after he confessed to a recent crime. Meanwhile, Dylan will do everything he can to help. He may attempt to convince authorities of his brother’s unstable mental condition to save him from conviction.
The synopsis for “The Body” posted on TV Guide reads, “Mother (Vera Farmiga) uses tough love to protect Norman (Freddie Highmore); Sheriff Greene (Brooke Smith) begins a murder investigation; and Dylan (Max Thieriot) gets his brother help.”
According to Cartermatt, the upcoming episode will follow Norman as he continues to go on a downward spiral while struggling to protect himself from his own mind. It has become clear at this point in the series that Norman’s demons have become more difficult to tame.
Dylan will take the initiative to help his brother’s burgeoning psychiatric troubles in the upcoming episode. It will be interesting to see how Dylan manages with such a complicated task.
Meanwhile, Mother will continue to torment Norman but make it seem that she is only protecting her son from the evils of the outside world. Although Norman has come to terms with dealing with the consequences of his own actions, Mother’s hold on him continues to remain absolute.
Norman admitted to killing off Sam Loomis (Austin Nichols) at the end of the previous episode, titled "Inseparable." The promo hints that he will be held in police custody and that Sheriff Greene will launch a murder investigation against him.
Meanwhile, Dylan insists that his brother is mentally unstable and didn’t have bad intentions when he committed the murderous acts. It seems that Dylan believes Norman’s innocence and that his actions were mere results of his complicated psychiatric condition.
The promo also shows Norman shoved to the ground by Mother as he is held in custody. The scene flashes to Norman merely throwing himself to the floor, with no one else inside the cell with him.
According to International Business Times, it seems highly likely that Norman won’t be staying behind bars for long considering Dylan’s determination in getting his brother some help. It may be possible that Norman will successfully evade imprisonment and end up in a mental health facility instead.
‘Bates Motel’ season 5’s episode 8, titled “The Body,” is scheduled to air on A&E on April 10, 2017. It was directed by Freddie Highmore. It will be followed by episode 9, titled "Visiting Hours," scheduled to be released on April 17.
