Andrea Jackson, Senior Vice President and Trust Relationship Manager at Lombard Odier Trust (Bermuda) Limited, and Stephen Weinstein, Senior Vice President and Group General Counsel, RenaissanceRe Holdings Ltd., joined the BDA Board this month.
Jackson has been involved with the BDA since 2013 as a member and leader of the agency’s trust and private-client working group. During that time, she has been closely connected to law-reform initiatives and assisted with bringing the Transcontinental Trusts International Forum to Bermuda in 2015; the event is now a fixture on the annual industry calendar.
A Bermudian, Jackson has worked on the island in the trust industry for more than 20 years, and has been with Lombard Odier since 2004. She holds an honours degree in law from the University of Reading, UK, and is a member of the Society of Trust & Estate Practitioners (STEP). An alumna of the Bermuda High School for Girls, she has served on the school’s board since 2012 and is the former chair of its committee for inclusion, admissions and financial aid. Jackson will act as BDA Board liaison for the trust industry, and will continue to serve as a member of the BDA’s trust industry group.
“I believe strongly in the work the BDA does to attract further business and companies to Bermuda to help grow our economy and create more jobs,” said Jackson. “I now look forward to continuing my work with the agency as a member of its Board.”
Weinstein, a 15-year Bermuda resident, serves as RenaissanceRe’s chief legal officer, with responsibility for legal, regulatory, government affairs and compliance matters. He is also Chair of the RenaissanceRe Risk Sciences Foundation, the company’s charitable vehicle committed to researching and developing risk-mitigation techniques and raising awareness through conferences and outreach events, including the award-winning Risk Mitigation Leadership Forum series.
Weinstein joined RenaissanceRe as General Counsel and Secretary in 2002 from leading international law firm Willkie Farr & Gallagher LLP. He has been a member of RenaissanceRe’s Executive Committee since March 2006. A frequent speaker on legal, regulatory and mitigation-related matters, he serves on the boards of several industry and charitable groups. Weinstein is a graduate of Columbia College, NY, and Harvard Law School.
“I’m delighted to have been invited to join the BDA Board,” said Weinstein. “Throughout our 23-year history, RenaissanceRe has been committed to supporting the development of Bermuda as a pre-eminent international business platform, as well as a rewarding place to live and work. Bermuda remains the ideal location to domicile and headquarter a company like ours. Personally, the evolution of the Bermuda market over time has been at the heart of my professional life. I look forward to supporting the outstanding team at BDA and its partners across ‘Team Bermuda’ to help build on our achievements to date.”
“It gives me great pleasure to welcome Andrea and Steve to the BDA Board,” said BDA Chair Kiernan Bell. “They are talented, erudite individuals, with the drive and experience to help us work with public and private sectors to keep and create jobs, and raise Bermuda’s GDP. I thank them both, and their respective employers, for committing their time and energy for the good of the island, and I look forward to working with them.”
