Many fans have waited two years for “Assassin’s Creed Valhalla” to get a New Game+ mode. The publisher, however, announced that it would not be included in the final updates for the title.
Ubisoft recently released a lengthy blog post detailing the “last chapter” of “Assassin’s Creed Valhalla” and other upcoming post-launch updates. But the company also took this opportunity to update players on the status of New Game+ for the 2020 game.
Unfortunately, Ubisoft said it ultimately decided against adding the New Game+ option to “Assassin’s Creed Valhalla” despite it being a “highly requested feature.” The publisher said that upon investigating the potential addition of the feature, it concluded that the “depth of the game” would not give developers much room to make its replayability worthwhile.
New Game+ has been a common post-launch addition, especially for action-adventure titles. The main idea is to provide players with new incentives to go through the game a second time after completing their first playthrough. It is commonly presented as an unlockable mode with new challenges, difficulty options, and rewards.
“We understand this news will come as a disappointment; however, we hope that the new content released in the past months, including never-before-seen experiences like Forgotten Saga, has provided an exciting and challenging experience for those seeking more replayable content,” Ubisoft said.
While players cannot go through the entire “Assassin’s Creed Valhalla” gameplay with added challenges, they still have things to look forward to next month. Ubisoft has supported the game with continuous updates and new content for two years, which is about to conclude this year with the release of Title Update 1.6.2 on Tuesday, Dec. 6.
The next update, aptly named The Last Chapter, will include an epilogue to complete Eivor’s saga and other stories introduced in “Assassin’s Creed Valhalla” in the last two years. While Title Update 1.6.2 is free, it requires players to complete certain requirements.
“Assassin’s Creed Valhalla” players will have to pledge to all territories of England to mark the completion of the main storyline, as well as Asgard and Jotunheim’s mythical story arcs. Players’ settlements must be upgraded to level 5. Construction of the Jomsviking barracks is also required, along with killing all targets of the Order of the Ancients to reveal its leader.
