Apple has indefinitely postponed the launch of its lightweight augmented-reality glasses due to technical challenges,
However, it is still planning to unveil its first mixed-reality headset, which combines both augmented and virtual reality, this spring.
Apple’s mixed-reality device, which will cost around US$3,000, would compete with the likes of Meta Platforms’ Quest Pro virtual and mixed-reality headset, which cost $1,500.
Instead of working on the AR glasses. Apple is now focusing on lowering the price of the follow-up version of its mixed-reality device by as early as 2024. To do so, it will use chips on par with those in the iPhone rather than components found in higher-end Mac computers.
