ADVISORY, Sept. 08, 2017 --
What:
The New York Police and Fire Widows' and Children's Benefit Fund (known as Answer the Call) is dedicated to providing financial assistance and a network of support to the families of NYC First Responders (NYPD Officers, PAPD Officers, FDNY Firefighters, and FDNY EMS Workers) killed in the line of duty. The fund provides $25,000 immediately after a line of duty death and then continues to provide the widow or widower with an annual stipend for the rest of his or her life. Over the course of a widow or widower's life Answer the Call will provide them with over $250,000. This year alone the organization will distribute over $4 million and will help approximately 600 families. In addition to financial support, they host events for beneficiary families throughout the year to give them an opportunity to come together to cope and connect.
The New York Police and Fire Widows’ and Children’s Benefit Fund will visit the Nasdaq MarketSite in Times Square. In honor of the occasion, Philip V. Moyles, Jr., Board President of Answer the Call, will ring the Opening Bell.
Nasdaq will observe a one-minute moment of silence at 9:20 a.m. Eastern Time (ET) to honor the victims, their families and survivors of September 11th. The Nasdaq Tower in Times Square will also be displaying a message of remembrance of those lost in the attacks.
