SAN DIEGO, Calif., May 01, 2018 -- BioLabs San Diego, part of a national network of coworking facilities designed to help science-based startups go further faster on limited capital investment, has promoted Abegale Flores Colmenar to site director. Susie Harborth, cofounder and managing director of BioLabs San Diego, made the announcement in a memo to coworkers and friends yesterday.
“Abegale has been with BioLabs San Diego since the inception, and thanks to her dedication and hard work, we reached our capacity goals within 12 months of launching our first Southern California site,” said Harborth. “Under her leadership, the San Diego site will continue to foster the spirit of collaboration as a hub of innovation, enabling further growth.”
Colmenar joined BioLabs San Diego in 2016 as operations director after spending more than 15 years managing executive suites throughout Southern California. Prior to her position with BioLabs, Colmenar launched multiple sites for Regus PLC, where she spent several years as a property manager.
As site director, Colmenar will lead the day-to-day operations, helping to shape BioLab San Diego’s unique culture.
“Entrepreneurs, and especially those running life-science startups, have a different kind of hustle and grit. That type of energy is contagious and it’s inspiring to work with such passionate people,” commented Colmenar. “Susie Harborth has been my mentor, so it’s an honor for me to continue paving the amazing path that she and her BioLabs cofounders have created to help early-stage companies become successful. They have created a premium offering that has disrupted the way biotech companies are launching. As a native San Diegan I’m even more compelled to support our life-science ecosystem. With the help of my strong lab and operations team, my goal now is to help grow BioLabs − beyond San Diego through Southern California.”
Colmenar's achievements will be recognized on May 10, 2018, as a Top Tech Execs San Diego nominee, at an event to be held at The Paddock at Del Mar Fairgrounds.
