iPhone 12 to take inspiration from iPhone 4, iPhone 5, reliable leaker said

The iPhone 11 isn’t even one-month-old, and the narrative has already shifted to the iPhone 12. While the next iteration isn’t coming anytime soon, the rumor mill is already hard in work pushing speculations forward.

The latest of which comes from reliable leaker and TF International Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. Kuo has a good track record of revealing information about Apple products before its release, so his word about the iPhone 12 is certainly carrying weight.

As the analyst would have it, the iPhone 11S family will not see the light of day as the Cupertino-based company has already started working on the iPhone 12. This isn’t surprising since the iPhone XS didn’t help the unimpressive sales performance of the iPhone X, Forbes reported.

iPhone 12 rumored to have squared-off edges

It appears that the tech giant is planning something big for the iPhone 12, moving away from its modern design and taking inspiration from devices that were released almost a decade ago. To be precise, Kuo speculates that Apple will mimic the squared-off edge design seen on the iPhone 4, iPhone 5, and iPhone SE.

It’s still unclear, however, how much influence the iPhone 12’s predecessor will have on its build since it’s still pretty early in the year to speculated such specifics. In fact, BGR argues that Apple itself likely doesn’t have a concrete idea of how to design the iPhone 12 as the company may still be rattling off ideas behind closed doors.

iPhone 12 needs some serious remodeling

Hopefully, Apple finds its footing again as it had been slipping in recent years on several avenues, including design and innovation. Known for pushing both elements forward, Apple’s previous brilliance in bringing in products that are slick and fresh have no longer been on display in the past few years. This has been compounded by the fact that one of its senior designers, Jony Ive, parted ways from the company a few months ago. There’s no doubt that Ive’s absence will have some impact on the development of the iPhone 12 since he’s been overseeing the design of the series for the past decade.

Meanwhile, concept artists have already created their own take regarding the iPhone 12 and published their work on the web. However, it doesn’t reflect Kuo’s speculated design but is, instead, taking inspiration from the iPhone 11, which may prove off the mark once the iPhone 12 arrives in September 2020.
