Carolynne Lord is an interdisciplinary researcher, working across Sociology and Computing to understand how materials of all kinds intersect with changing social practices.

Carolynne is currently a Senior Researcher for the Centre for Research into Energy Demands Solutions (CREDS), working to understand the forms of flexibility that exist in social practices. In doing this, she hopes to better understand renewable energy supplies and how daily life may have to shift to account for these. Alongside this, she also works as a Researcher for the FlipGig project which explores gig economy work through the working practices of Deliveroo riders - understanding how issues of pay combine with platforms, and the algorithms that mediate them to modify delivery practices. Both of these roles are based at Lancaster University, UK.

Carolynne's previous work has focused on how new devices, like tablet computers, shift and alter the contours of daily practices, with a specific eye to understanding how tablets have been integrated into the daily lives of older (i.e., 65+) cohorts.
