I am an Associate Professor in mathematics education and Deputy Director of Research in the School of Education at Western Sydney University, specialising in mathematics pedagogy for pre-service and practicing primary teachers. My research focusses on the influences on student engagement with mathematics, the use of technology in mathematics education, teacher professional learning and financial literacy education for children. I am the President of the Mathematics Education Research Group of Australasia (MERGA) and a past President of the Mathematical Association of New South Wales (MANSW). I have won multiple teaching awards, including a prestigious Australian Award for University Teaching (AAUT) Teaching Excellence Award in 2016 in recognition of my work in the field of mathematics education. I am also the author of the successful mathematics blog, engagingmaths.com.
